Hopfest is here!!!

Hopfest our annual celebration of all things hoppy, starts tomorrow October 8th at 11am and runs through Sunday, October 12th.  We are very proud of the amount of Fresh Hop, and other hoppy gems that we have collected in the past few weeks.   We made a few road trips and were able to amass some rare beers for the Seattle market.  It sure is hard work driving around and meeting great brewers all in the name of this festival.  Hard work I say!  We have a little different format this year, usually we fill all the taps with a beer or cider that fits in with the festival.  This year we are starting with 42 different hoppy  beers.  Throughout the 5 days of this festival we will rotate in other beers as the ones we start with blow.  This gives you many reasons to come back day after day to enjoy a new fresh hop or hoppy beer that wasn't on the previous day. It  all so allows us to accommodate those folks that for one reason or another aren't in to hoppy beer.  We are really excited about the line up that will be on draft tomorrow upon opening, I've said enough.  What follows is what you can expect to see on draft,  remember sometimes we make game time decisions and things change, this here is mostly if not exactly what you will see on draft tomorrow.

We are excited to be hosting the launch of Perennial Ales on September 25th

Perennial Artisan Ales out of St Louis is coming to the Seattle Market and we are hosting the launch event here on September 25 starting at 6pm.  The owner/brewmaster will be on hand.  Perennial is know for their Belgian Style Ales as well as their barrel aging.  We will be pouring their 3 flagship beers Saison de Lis, Hommel Bier and Aria (a belgian style ale with Brettanomyces Bruxellensis).  In addition to this we will be pouring The Last Word ( a tart ale with key lime, wintergreen, and wormwood), Loomiweisse (a 4% black Berliner Weisse brewed with omani limes in collaboration with Evil Twin), Hopfentea (a Berliner Weisse), and Woodside Honey Triple.  We are working on the menu but we will be using some of these beers in special menu items for the event.

Hopfest--our annual celebration of all things hoppy will start on Wednesday, October 8th and run through the weekend.  We are changing the format a bit this year in an attempt to provide as many fresh hop options as we can.  We are going to start on Wednesday with 20 fresh hop beers plus 12 or so other hoppy options, and keep a rotating cast of 20 fresh hop beers on draft throughout the festival.  We hope to see you on more than one of the days...due to the nature of these beers the list of beers is still a work in progress.  As it gets closer we will update you as to what will be available.

Goose Island Migration event Wednesday, September 3rd

We are pleased to announce that Goose Island Brewing out of Chicago has chosen us to host a Goose Island Migration event.  What is the Goose Island Migration you ask?  The simple answer is this: Goose Island sends brewers, and many rare beers and host events in multiple locations in a market. This is the first time that our market has been included in The Migration and we are one of those chosen locations.  We will be hosting a Migration event on Wednesday, September 3rd starting at 6pm.  As we mentioned before there will be brewery representatives on hand.  What rare offerings are we talking about?  The brewery digs deep for these events they are sending us:

Bourbon County Proprietors
Bourbon County Coffee 2012
Bourbon County Backyard Rye
312 Wheat

This will certainly be the first time that we have seen many of these beers on draft in this market.

We celebrate Reuben's Brews 2nd Anniversary !

We are very excited to host an event for Reuben's Brews 2nd Anniversary on Tuesday, August 5th at 6pm.  We will be pouring:
Crikey IPA on cask
Kenya Cream Ale--Cream Ale with Coffee
Imperial Ipa
Irish Stout on Nitro
Please come downshow your support, hoist a pint or two for this awesome Seattle Brewery, Adam and the crew will be in attendance.

Thursday, August 7th at 6pm we will be hosting a re-release of Midnight Sun Barfly Smoked Imperial Stout, as well as pouring a few other offerings from this Anchorage Brewery.  This is a rare opportunity to taste this delicious beverage.

Here's what Midnight Sun says about the beer:

ABV: 11.6%
IBU: 45
Somber and smoky, BarFly Smoked Imperial Stout saunters into the room slowly. Thick smoke. Cool swagger. Good wood. Bit of bourbon. Sticky leather. Slow glances. Lingering looks. Vanilla. The only thing that didn’t make the glass was maraschino cherry. Bring your own and…wear out your welcome.
First brewed as part of our 2010 Pop Ten Series, BarFly was added to our Alaska’s Most Wanted line-up in 2014. Bourbon barrel-aging requires a long leisure so this beer is not on a set schedule but we hope to get a batch out about once a year.
AK - 22-oz bottles and very limited draft (Summer 2014)
WA, OR, CA, NY – 22-oz bottles (Summer 2014)
Midnight Sun crafts some of the most sought-after beer in the world. This ongoing and ever-growing line—called Alaska’s Most Wanted—includes creative successes from our themed beer series as well as amazing one-offs. The beers in this line-up will be produced and released as time and tank space permit but they will be repeated.
We hope you love our extra special brews as much as we do. A gracious thank-you to our long time “every weather” fans for years of love and support. And an open-armed welcome to the new aficianados who are just discovering our very characterful beers.

We have a Logsdon Farmhouse Ales Event on , Tuesday, July 22nd starting at 6pm.  What better time to drink   We thought it would be a great time to pour some of the Logsdon Beer in the cooler.  We will be pouring:

Far West Vlaming (6.5%)
Our organic red ale is brewed in traditional West Flanders style. A combination of light, crystal, and dark barley malt, wheat, and oats are brewed with local whole-cone hops and a variety of select yeast and lactic bacteria. We age our red ale in oak barrels for a period of time to develop complex richness, soft tannins, and fruity tart character. The aged beer is then blended with young beer to create the desired balance of malt sweetness with a dry finish.

Seizoen Bretta (8%)—we will have ’13 and ‘14 vintages
Our organic farmhouse ale is brewed in small batches on a traditional farm brewery as it has historically been made for hundreds of years. This unfiltered bottle of seizoen, with its beeswax seal, is naturally refermented and carbonated with select yeast strains producing fruity and spicy flavors that are balanced by hops and a soft malt character. Special Brettanomyces yeast provides added dryness and crisp complexity. For the most satisfying results, store upright in a cold, dark place and enjoy in a proper glass.
Certified Organic

The Conversion Ale (7.8%)
Logsdon’s first wild ale, this is a tart, juicy ale brewed in the farmhouse tradition and opened to wild fermentation.

And their newly released Tripel.

Please join us on Tuesday, July 22nd.

On Wednesday, July 30th we are hosting a Sierra Nevada Beer Camp Across America event.  Sierra undertook the momentous task of getting 12 breweries to collaborate on 12 individual beers and put them all in to a 12 pack.  At our event we will have all 12 beers available on draft, for your imbibing pleasure. There will also be an opportunity to win a trip to Sierra Nevada Beer Camp to brew a beer with other Beer Camp winners.  Here's a trailer that tells the story better than we can.

You want to drink Chimay Red on draft!

We invite you to join us tomorrow, July 9th, to drink a Chimay Red or Chimay "Première" on draft.  This is the first time that it has been available on draft in Seattle.  This is an exciting opportunity to drink a great Trappist Bier.

What follows is a blurb from their website:
The Chimay "Première" was the first beer brewed at the Notre-Dame de Scourmont Abbey by the Trappist fathers in 1862.
Its current recipe was crafted by Father Théodore when he recreated the brewery after World War II. He was directly inspired by the original recipes from the beginnings of the brewery.

We have a couple of other events coming up in the near future as well:
A night with Logsdon Farmhouse Ales from Hood River, on Tuesday, July 22nd @6pm. We will be pouring multiple vintages of Seizoen Bretta, their new Tripel, Far West Vlaming and Conversion Ale.

Seizoen Bretta (say-soon'-brett'-ah)  GOLD at the Great American Beer Festival, 2012

This unfiltered bottle of seizoen, with it's beeswax seal, is na.turally refermented and carbonated with select yeast strains, producing fruity and spicy flavors that are balanced by hops and soft malt character. Special Brettanomyces yeast provides added dryness and crisp complexity to the Seizoen Bretta.  Bottle conditioned with pear juice for a natural carbonation.
8.0% ABV, 35 IBU

Far West Vlaming (far-west-flam'-ing)     >Voted as 20 best sour beers in 2014<

This Red Ale is brewed in the 'Vlaming' or West Flanders style. A combination of pale, crystal, and dark roasted barley malt, wheat, and oats are brewed with local whole-cone hops, with a select variety of yeast and lactic bacteria. We age our Red Ale in oak barrels for a period of time to develop complex richness, soft tannins, and fruity, tart character. The agest beer is then blended with young beer to create the desired balance of malt sweetness with a dry finish.
6.5% ABV, 16 IBU

The Conversion
Northwest Sour Ale, brewed in the farmhouse tradition opened to fermentation with wild yeast and bacteria. malt sweetness with a flavorful hop character gives way to layers of acidity and tartness. This beer represents our transition to wilds ales: tart and juicy with lots of traditional farmhouse goodness. Our conversion to the wild side.
7.7% ABV, 25 IBU

Then on Wednesday, July 30th we host the Sierra Nevada Beer Camp Across America event.  Sierra Nevada has for awhile released a Beer Camp box set, where they highlighted their favorite beers brewed at their Beer Camps.  This year instead of picking they decided that they would pick 12 breweries from around the country that they wanted to Collabeerate with and make a mixed 12 pack that would have every one of the collaborations in it.  The 12 pack is scheduled to be released in the area soon, on July 30th we will be tapping all 12 beers here.  Here just watch this trailer....

Then we are in to August!  Bring it on Summer!
