Wednesday, May 18th @2pm—Tasting Beer with Jamie Floyd from Ninkasi.
Join Jamie Floyd as he discusses how we taste the beers we love. We'll go through all 5 types of tasting from sweet, salty, bitter, sour, and  umami. We'll learn how each of these senses pair with, complement, and even cancel each other out to give you the exact flavor sensation that brewers have planned to deliver with their products.

We have two events next week!

On Tuesday, April 26th we will be hosting Midnight Sun Brewing from Anchorage, AK.  We have had some beers in the cooler for a bit and they were kind enough to send some other greats down.  There will be a brewery representative on hand.  We are tapping 5 Beers for this event:
Termination Dust Belgian Barrel Aged Barleywine
2/29 Vanilla Milk Stout
Tundra Wookie Belgian Dark with Tart Cherries
Brewtality Espresso Black Beer
Barfly Smoked Imperial Stout

Wednesday, April 27th, We will celebrate Kings Day, a national holiday in the Netherlands.  We will be pouring 4 beers from Le Trappe, a Trappist Brewery based in the Netherlands. Those beers are:  Wit, Triple, Quad and Puur.  Please join us for this great celebration.

La Trappe is one of only ten Trappist breweries in the world allowed to carry the logo “Authentic Trappist Product”. This logo guarantees authenticity, recipe, tradition and, in the case of La Trappe, a thriving working relationship between monastery and brewery. These world-class beers have been brewed at the Cistercian Abbey of Onze Lieve Vrouw van Koningshoeven since 1884.

F*%k Cancer!

F*%k Cancer!  Five years ago today our friend and co-worker Chris Cavanaugh lost his battle with this horrible disease.  Chris was well known in the Beer Industry and was one amazing bartender.  Raconteaur has been brewed, in his honor, by Elysian Brewing every year since.  Brouwer’s Café will be donating all proceeds from the sale of this porter to the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society, in hopes that one day we can truly F*%k Cancer with a  cure.  We invite you to lift a pint to him and the many others that have lost their battle with this disease.  Cavy, we miss you every day, and we wish you all the best.

6 Degrees of Inebriation

Next Saturday, April 9th we will have a 6 Brewery tap takeover.  Hopworks, Sierra Nevada, Deschutes, Firestone Walker, New Belgium and Two Beers will be taking over. Each Brewery has dug deep in to their cellars for some of the beers on draft at this event.  We will attach the draftlist to the end of this post.  If the beer is not enough the brewery representatives have gotten together and are hosting a Game Show, with lots of chances for audience participation as well as chances to win prizes.  The Game Show will run from 4-6 pm.  We will also be donating a portion of the proceeds as well as passing a donation bin around with the money going to Motley Zoo a local Animal Rescue.  We invite you to join us, we assure you it is going to be a good time.
